My World

This is my world,
I cause it to spin.

To turn day to night,
and then back again.

I turn winter to spring,
and summer to fall.

I cause the wind to blow
and the snow to cover all.

I bring joyous laughter
and shed oceans of tears.

I’ve nurtured this world
throughout the years.
My fury, and storm have infinite range;

I can make any man change.
Yes, I am the essence of mystery and
the keeper of security.

I’m the parent of humankind maternally.
I write and record my world’s history,
and I possess the knowledge of eternity.

I am the woman, proud and black.

This world I’ve carried on my back.
My love is the world’s aphrodisiac.
I am the woman, proud and black.
